In a grand alliance, Amazon India has announced partnership with HackerEarth to bring the first ever virtual Artificial Intelligence (AI) hackathon for Alexa in India. Developers will be encouraged to think outside the traditional application development approach and embrace a voice-first design approach.
Amazon has been successfully catering to a large data base of users through its products. Further Amazon offers sell good quality products at amazing discounts for the buyers. According to reports, sellers have also benefitted from the online portal by reaching out to customers in both India and abroad.
Another such invention, added to the list of products available at Amazon is Alexa, for which a hackathon is being conducted. The same is supposed to bring about new and interesting skills for Amazon Alexa product and will no doubt have a greater reach in the Indian market.
The Amazon Alexa or Echo is a Cloud-based voice assistant built by Amazon, having over 12,000 skills in the store across multiple categories including Business & Finance, Food & Drink, Games, Music & Audio. There is no doubt that the future is all about smart services and Amazon is heavily banking on it.
This hackathon will give participants an opportunity to work on voice-controlled skills that will make Alexa smarter. The idea is to get out-of-the-box ideas and embrace voice-first design approach.
It is expected that more than 15,000 developers from India will be showcasing their potential to build voice skills for Alexa. The participants will be given access to the Alexa Skills Kit (ASK) which is a set of free, self-service, public APIs that developers can utilize to easily create new experiences for Alexa.
The CEO and Cofounder of HackerEarth, Sachin Gupta expressed his acknowledgement by declaring that it is a great honor to collaborate with Amazon India for the AI Hackathon which will not only help in making the product better and provide it with many benefits, but also act as a platform for eager participants to create amazing new skills for Indian users.
The registration process for the hackathon has already begun and is expected to be concluded on April 1, 2018. It will be an open themed hackathon where participants are open to build any type of skill that can benefit the Amazon Alexa/Echo customers.
They are further encouraged to create skills that the users might be looking for, after which the jury of the hackathon including the senior leadership from Amazon and Alexa Skills business in India will be awarding cash prizes, devices including Amazon Echo and Amazon Kindle to the winning teams. So if you possess a creative mind and have the talent to use your skills for making the product better, efficient and innovative, then hackathon is the place for you.
