Aging happens to everyone, and it’s nothing to fear. But we all want to retain youthful, attractive skin so that we can age as gracefully as possible. Although it’s impossible to completely prevent or eliminate wrinkles, you can minimize wrinkles on your skin when you take the right skincare and health measures.
Use Collagen Lotions
Your skin produces collagen, a substance that does many good things in your body, one of which is keeping your skin elastic and youthful. Unfortunately, the human body produces less collagen as we age. Use an anti-aging lotion with collagen in it daily to boost your skin’s collagen and give your face a youthful glow.

The UVA and UVB rays from the sun age your skin when you’re exposed for too long. No matter the time of year or the cloud cover, you should be applying SPF to your face, neck, and chest daily. Get a broad-spectrum SPF of at least 15, and make sure you apply it liberally; be sure to wait 20 minutes before putting your makeup on top of the sunscreen.
Try Noninvasive Lift Procedures
When signs of aging happen, some people run to the plastic surgeon for a facelift. This is an extreme and invasive measure; lots of plastic surgeons offer noninvasive or minimally invasive procedures instead. California plastic surgeon Dr. Honrado offers the THERMIlift procedure, which uses heat (instead of toxins such as Botox) to tighten the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

Like the sun’s rays, smoking is another huge culprit in causing wrinkles and other signs of aging. When you smoke, you pucker your mouth around the cigarette, forming tiny lines around your mouth. Cigarettes also contain a long list of toxins that damage your body and that can cause premature skin aging.
Do Face Exercises
When you tone the muscles in the rest of your body, your skin appears tighter and more youthful. The same is true for your face. Find some face exercises (sometimes called “face yoga”) that target the areas of your face that you would like to improve. Don’t be afraid if you see wrinkles while you exercise your face. You’ll only be holding these positions for a few seconds, and toning the muscles is your aim right now.
Cut Back on Sugar
The sugar in your diet causes some of the signs of aging you see. The more sugar you consume, the more of a certain kind of harmful molecule your body produces. Sources say that glycation affects the collagen in your skin, resulting in less plump skin with more fine lines and wrinkles. You don’t have to quit sugar cold turkey, however. Cut back a little each week until you create a sustainable lifestyle change.
Use these techniques and treatments to minimize wrinkles appearance from your skin. You’ll also contribute to healthier, plumper skin that will give you a more youthful appearance as you age. Focus on aging gracefully and aging well instead of on preventing aging completely, allowing you to produce a healthier self.
