Thank goodness for liquor home delivery in Niagara! Tis the season to entertain with guests, and food and of course, alcohol make for a festive mood. I have my typical holiday staples when it comes to preparing a meal and beverages, but occasionally I like to try something new. And try as I might to be prepared, sometimes things do not go as planned.
As a creative host, I like to try and impress with a variety of unique drink options for my guests. This year, the Vodka company Smirnoff released a new, limited edition peppermint vodka just in time for the holidays and it seemed the perfect option for my event. Being a big fan of the clear fluid, I have had my fair share of varieties, and this was no exception.
To make the drinks even more festive, I rimmed my glasses with crushed candy cane. The martini itself is quite simple to make; add 1.25 oz. Smirnoff Peppermint Vodka and 0.5 oz. Baileys Irish Cream liqueur. Shake the ingredients over ice and strain into glasses, and voila, you have your peppermint delight. Some may fancy sprinkling a little bit of nutmeg on top and garnishing it with a candy cane as on the side. Should your candy cane happen to fall into the glass, you will end up with little extra color in your beverage!
Well, fantastic to say, the drinks were a gift to the guests. The drinks were such a success that we finished the bottle too quickly! Unfortunately the consumption of such wonderful liquids also meant we were in no shape to drive. Tadaaa! Liquor home delivery to the rescue! I ordered two more bottles of the minty vodka and we were set for the night. I had a little left over at the end which I saved for another night in some hot chocolate to sip by the fire. If you like the occasional shooter this stuff is also really super as a shot. Shake it over ice and pour it into a candy cane rimmed shot glass for an extra burst of minty flavor with a little sweetness.
We are lucky enough to live in an area where we can get liquor home delivery – we also have access to a designated driving service to keep everyone safe and focused on the task at hand – enjoying the holidays! This is one of my favorite holiday traditions when I can get together with friends and their families to enjoy some holiday cheer. Between the rum and eggnog, peppermint martinis, and liquor infused truffles, a safe ride home is always a good idea. We all know how to eat, drink, and be merry as well as ensure we get our family home safely for our own Christmas celebrations. Have a wonderful holiday, and be safe!
