Summer Beauty Mistakes to Avoid: Alas, summer’s finally here!
Warm day, a walk to the beach, BBQs, mermaid hair and summer outfit trends are among the few things we look forward to and enjoy come summer season. How’s your summer makeup routine going so far?
Summer time is one of the best seasons, it brings plenty of hot days but it’s tons of fun regardless. What’s not fun during this time of the year is the adjustment you have to make to keep up your beauty routine with the weather.

Don’t let the oily feeling the hot days of summer make you commit beauty crimes. Time to bring out your bright and bold makeup shades and beach hair. However, be wary of these common summer makeup blunders you probably don’t know you’re already making:
Skipping on sunscreen
One of the major predicaments most beauty gurus makes during summer season is leaving their homes without applying sunscreen over their faces (and other exposed areas).
This one is a no-brainer and is a number one rule: always, ALWAYS wear sunscreen; no skipping, no excuses. This should be applied every single day especially during summer. If you’re too lazy to apply multiple products in one sitting, you might want to buy yourself a three or two-in-one product that contains SPF and other elements you most need.
Not switching to waterproof mascara
So much for sporting racoon eyes this hot summer weather, who wants that anyway? The hot and humid weather makes regular mascara melt down your face quickly and easily. Buy yourself a waterproof formula for this time of the year.
Keep your lashes long, charismatic and in place. Keep it together using a waterproof formula, although know when it’s necessary to use that one or a regular formula.
Sporting an orange tan
Doesn’t it feel a little annoying that amidst the summer heat, you look like a sparking vampire with your pale skin? Some people couldn’t resist the temptation of going to the tanning salon or grabbing their go-to spray tans and self-tanners to get that warm summer glow. Hey, many people do!
They’re great products and ways to embrace the caramel color in your pale skin however, be wary of turning yourself into Donald Trump-orange tan. No one looks gorgeous in that tone, stay safe and wise with your tanning choices.
Heat-styling your hair
Come on, we’re in a scorching heat which means your hair is sensitive at easily damaged at this season. Heat styling sure gives your that beach hair wave but it gives your hair more than that.
Your hair is dry and irritatingly frizzy no thanks to the humidity and heat. Adding even more heat to the hair will further damage the particles. It’s a major no-no. There are several other alternatives to achieving a wavy or curly mane (e.g. socks and other hair curling no-heat products). Please, summer heat alone is damaging enough, treat your hair with TLC.
Using powder products
There’s really nothing wrong about using powder products but since it’s hot during summer, you tend to unconsciously pack on powder reapplication every 30 minutes to conceal the oiliness of your face. Word of advice, that’s not a good idea.
Applying powder frequently in an attempt to clear the oil will only clog up your pores which then causes nasty breakouts. That’s the least you want to happen, no?
