After cashing in a good response from the famous Galaxy A series, renowned tech-giant Samsung has now listed the newest member of the family, Samsung Galaxy A9 on its official Iranian website! After featuring in a number of reports from GSM Arena, AnTuTu, and GeekBench about a new Snapdragon powered Samsung smartphone with model number SM – A9000, Samsung has finally listed its Samsung Galaxy A9 with the same model number on its Iranian website. The rumors about Galaxy A9 already gave the much need hype to the company, but since there is no major update about the global availability of this beauty, here we’re, highlighting some of its key features and capabilities in detail. Have a look to know more!
The images featured on the Iranian website are not so clear, but considering the recent trend followed by Samsung, we can expect the Galaxy A9 to incorporate premium materials, which could possibly mean a meticulously crafted full aluminum frame. The phone is likely to feature with a narrow bezel design concept with a very slim waist line running around 5-6mm. It will be better than Galaxy A8 for sure, and will definitely come in three color options including Gold, White, and Black.
Moving a step ahead, the Samsung Galaxy A9 will sport a 5.5-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display. This will be a bezel-less display, and will be even better than the full-HD panel featured on its predecessor. The visual experience on this handset will be just as good as on Samsung Galaxy S6 or on Note 4, and with 401 pixels per square inch, its will deliver truly colorful images with fine details and perfect viewing angles. It will be a real treat for gamers, movie-buffs, and workaholics!
Performance and hardware
Initially, the mighty Galaxy A9 was expected to be at least as well spec’d as the Galaxy S5 or even Note 4. Rumors even suggested that the metal-clad device would possibly incorporate the successor of Snapdragon 615 SoC. And finally, the result showed up and it did not disappoint us at all. The Galaxy A9 will be coming with an Octa-core Snapdragon 620 SoC with four Cortex-A72 cores tickling at 1.8GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores running at 1.40GHz. Built-on 64 bit architecture, the power-packed handset will pair up with 3GB RAM and Adreno 510 GPU, and will take on the likes of several high-end players rolling the market.
On the software front, Samsung has given an assured upgrade to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. As of now, reports claim that the Galaxy A9 will be running Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Samsung’s intuitive TouchWiz UI, and will upgrade to the next version in coming months. However, for the global release, things can change a bit as the phone might offer Android 6.0 Marshmallow straight out-of-the box.
On the storage front, Samsung has given no major upgrade this time. Being a mid-range smartphone, the Galaxy A9 offers same amount of storage as on Galaxy A8. The power-packed phone comes equipped with 32GB built-in memory, with an added option for expandability up to a whopping 128GB via microSD card. It offers more than enough room for work and play, and performs seamlessly even on heavy usage.
Again, with no real upgrades, the Galaxy A9 will be bringing a main camera with 16-megapixels and a front-facing camera with 5-megapixels. The device will produce generously impressive images, but will again keep OIS and 4K video capturing out of the picture. It will only include a bunch of average options such as, autofocus, LED flash, HDR and Full HD video capture. On the other end, 5MP front-camera will allow you to take sharp and vibrant selfies.
Even in terms of connectivity, Galaxy A9 brings no major upgrade. The latest beauty from Samsung will be offering a plethora of connectivity options including 3G HSPA+, 4G, GPRS/EDGE, and A-GPS. But, the biggest downside is, there will be USB Type-C connectivity, and users will have to make do with standard microUSB 2.0 only.
The only element which we all are eagerly waiting to see is the power-efficiency of Galaxy A9. Neither the leaks nor the official listing has revealed the battery capacity of Samsung Galaxy A9. We all are expecting something better than the non-removable 3050 mAh battery featured with the Galaxy A8. But since it’s the company which is famously known for the unexpected, we cannot say anything about the battery capabilities of the upcoming handset. It can either be an impressive powerhouse or dull and power-deficient!
Price and Availability
Since Samsung Galaxy A8 was announced recently in July, we’re probably a few months away from the official launch of Galaxy A9. Earlier in October, a Zauba manifest revealed that the components of the Galaxy A9 were shipped to India for testing. Since it was just the components, we can expect the full-fledged model to show up somewhere around January 2016 or maybe at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Even on the Iranian website, the listing is currently incomplete and will get updated with newer images and additional information on availability and pricing. Rumors have suggested that the phone will be priced close to the Galaxy A8 which is currently available in India at a price tag of Rs 32,500, which is approximately $500 in the US.
An improved and more powerful Samsung Galaxy A9 is definitely a great choice for Indian smartphone buyers. If this phone comes at a price around $500, it would be a magnificent deal for all of us, otherwise it would be another dreadful mistake from Samsung, after the obnoxiously priced Galaxy A8.
So, as of now, all eyes are on the pricing and battery efficiency of SamsungGalaxy A9. With much need hype, the upcoming Galaxy smartphone is already on the list of most-anticipated smartphones of 2016. It would be a tough competitor for leading mid-range players, and will certainly a majestic set of hardware and software specs.
